Book Review: Ice Like Fire

To the best ofice-like-fire my ability, I embarrass my children with my car dancing. Every time P!nk’s “Just Like Fire” comes on the radio, my daughter says, “Here goes…” and I do not disappoint. I’m pretty sure P!nk will see me at a stoplight one day and ask me to go on tour with her.

Now that song has another meaning since reading book 2 of Sara Raasch’s Snow Like Ashes series.  This is how I hear the lyrics now:

Just Ice like fire, burnin’ up the way
If I could light the world up for just one day
Watch this madness, colorful charade
No one can be just like me anyway
Just like magic, I’ll be flying free
I’mma disappear when they come for me
I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say?
No one can be just like me anyway
Just Ice like fire

And the lyrics fit the book! Book 2 begins a few months after Book 1 ends with Meira giving us a quick update what’s happened and what problems still exist for the Winterians. (spoiler alert: she’s alive. and duh, she’s the main character, y’all.) This book takes you on a trip through multiple kingdoms as Meira and Theron try to get their itineraries on the agenda of each kingdom’s ruler.

Really into this series right now.
