Review: The Weed That Strings the Hangman’s Bag

weed that stringsThis is the 2nd book in the Flavia de Luce mystery series.  I didn’t like it as much as the first one.  I thought it was a bit slow and I had a hard time with the content.  Explanation to follow.

It was a little slow.  Like 3/4 of the book.  I think because Flavia is meeting new characters and she had to give back story on something that happened 5 years ago in the village.

I had a hard time with the content.  I don’t do well with hurt/dead children and animals.  Ever.  This book has a boy that died 5 years earlier under mysterious circumstances.  Flavia figures out what happened.  Nothing about her discovery made me feel better.

BUT.  I’m going to continue reading the series.  I adore Flavia and her family and their village.  She named her bike Gladys.  I named my car Inga.  I think we’d get along.
